Sandi Rempel, Church Secretary
Sandi was born and raised in Southern Manitoba in a loving, Christian family. As a young girl she was enrolled as a member of The Mailbox Club, and it was while working through one of these lessons, that the Gospel was presented and she asked Jesus to be her personal Saviour. This was the start of God’s wonderful plan for her life. She did not fully realize then all that the Lord had in store for her. There have been some bumps along the way, but God has always been good––guiding and protecting her! During her teen years she had believed that she could lose her salvation which does not provide a sense of security or stability in the Christian life and led her in making some wrong decisions. At the age of 17, the Lord brought her to a point in her life in where she had to choose which path she was going to take––God’s way or the way of the world. She chose the Lord’s way and will be forever grateful for those the Lord used to bring her to this point of decision. It was during this time that she began to search for a church that had a concern for souls and was committed to the Word of God. In the fall of 1988, she attended some evangelistic meetings held in Winkler and remembers thinking, “This is what I have been looking for!”
The Pembina Valley Baptist Church had its first service in December of 1988, and praise the Lord she was there! Sandi remembers, “It was only after hearing the preaching of God’s Word for some time and processing that Truth that I finally realized that salvation was all of God and nothing of me. I remember the night that I realized that He was the one that held my salvation, and that there was nothing that I could do to change it––He would keep His promise! ‘I will never leave thee.’ That night I had the ‘peace that passeth all understanding.’
“God has continued to work in my heart over the years through the preaching of God’s Word, and as Philippians 1:6 says, ‘Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.’ I am so grateful for my salvation and all honour and glory belongs to Him!
“I count it an honor and privilege to have worked for Pastor Sullivant and the Pembina Valley Baptist Church these past years. I have been blessed to be able to serve in a variety of areas in the local church like Sunday school, directing the drama in the annual Christmas cantata, organizing Vacation Bible School, and teaching a secretarial course at Canadian Baptist Bible College.”
